WHY A WORSHIP CONFERENCE AT GATEWAY?
Over the past several years, Gateway has sent members of our praise team to two different worship conferences: The Getty SING Conference in Nashville and The Sovereign Grace Worship God Conference in Louisville. The community and fellowship that grew from our time together on those trips, and the challenges and encouragement that came from the conference, helped give our team vision for how God wants to use and grow the music ministry here at Gateway. From the discussions during these conferences came questions like: How do we build community within our team that transcends just our Sunday morning gatherings? What can we do to help train our team to strengthen our areas that need growth? How can we use our gifts and talents to serve the global church and not just our local fellowship? Through trying to answer these questions we began to start putting things in place to accomplish these tasks. In other words, going to worship conferences together has shaped our culture and impacted our church.
In looking toward next year and where the praise team wanted to go to continue to be equipped, they began to think of how God has used these conferences to challenge and encourage, give rest from the planning, practice, and playing that goes into every Sunday worship service, and allow the opportunity to worship with other believers. From those reflections, the question then arose, what if we hosted a conference at Gateway instead of going to one? So, this year will be the first of what hopefully will be many more "Gateway Worship Conferences!"
WHAT WILL GATEWAY'S FIRST WORSHIP CONFERENCE BE LIKE?
The theme for Gateway's first worship conference will be The Five Solas: Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura), Faith Alone (Sola Fide), Grace Alone (Sola Gratia), Christ Alone (Sola Christus), and The Glory Of God Alone (Soli Deo Gloria).
Each of our large group sessions will look at one of those key truths, and then challenge us with the question, "How should this truth affect not only our worship gatherings on Sunday mornings, but also our daily lives?" The Word will be preached well in each session. Every believer would benefit from these messages, so no, you do not have to be on the praise team to join us for it!
We also will have many breakout seminars throughout the conference that will offer training, encouragement and teaching to help equip those who serve and lead in their local churches. Breakout sessions also are available for anyone who wants to better understand what worship is to be like in a local church and how we can work together to grow in it.
We will end the conference on Saturday evening with a "Night of Praise" as we sing together songs that help us reflect back on God's Word and our salvation by grace alone through faith alone in the finished work of Christ alone for the glory of God alone.
